Peptide Safety Data Sheets

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is the standardised document that communicates the hazards of a chemical and the precautions for handling it. Every sheet below follows the 16-section format of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), the structure required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) and specified by ANSI Z400.1.

The sixteen sections run in a fixed order — identification, hazard identification, composition, first-aid measures, fire-fighting, accidental release, handling and storage, exposure controls and personal protection, physical and chemical properties, stability and reactivity, toxicological information, ecological information, disposal, transport, regulatory information, and other information. Because the order is fixed, a researcher who needs first-aid guidance or the incompatible-materials list knows exactly which section to open on any sheet, from any supplier.

For a laboratory, these documents are the basis of a compliant chemical hygiene plan: they inform the personal protective equipment a protocol calls for, the storage conditions and incompatibilities a compound requires, the spill and disposal procedure, and the information that has to be available to anyone handling the material. Each sheet states its own date of preparation and revision number.

Does a Safety Data Sheet state the purity of a batch?

No. An SDS describes the substance and how to handle it; it is not a batch record and carries no purity figure for material you received. Purity, identity confirmation, endotoxin result, lot number and test date are recorded on the batch-specific Certificate of Analysis, which is a separate document published in the Certificates of Analysis index.

How current are these Safety Data Sheets?

Each sheet states its own date of preparation and its own revision number, and both are shown on the page and published as structured data. Those values are read from the document itself, never from a build or publication timestamp. A safety data sheet is revised when the hazard information it carries changes, so a sheet that has not changed keeps its original date rather than being re-dated.

Are these materials safe for human or veterinary use?
